Internship
A very enjoyable experience in the medical city of Baghdad university
Mafraq Hospital (Abu Dhabi)

Spent 3 great years there preparing for FRCS. One person who made a serious impact on me was my mentor, the consultant Dr. A.S. Rao, the head of general surgery. His influence on me was overwhelming and his untimely death in 1989 by a car accident from a 14-year-old teenager in 1989 devastated me.
He gave me a bit of advice which I will never forget : "Do not run after publicity but let publicity run after you "
Another person who greatly influenced me at the stage of my career was Dr. Sarin who gave me my first major cases in surgery. I will remain indebted to them for their support in the initial stages of my career. The 6 months that I spent with Dr.Sarin in her department remains one of the happiest memories in my life.
